For the first time, I ruptured inner meniscus and cruciate ligament in May 2009. I had twisted my left knee during a soccer match at the school that I work at. At first, I thought something had broken off because of the loud bang in my left knee. I was operated twice, followed by outpatient rehabilitation and physiotherapy. One year later, I was dogged by bad luck again. I twisted the same knee during a photo shoot. Again, ruptured inner meniscus and cruciate ligament, 2 operations with inpatient rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
It healed very well and I was soon able to deal with my daily life with only little impairment. Weight training helped me to compensate for the lacking stability of the injured knee. I even thought I was fit to play a bit of soccer with the kids at work which turned out to be a big mistake. In February 2017, I had to visit the doctor again after a short soccer match during the school break. My knee hurt a lot again and I could not put any weight on it. Diagnosis: partial rupture of the inner meniscus.
The question now was: another surgery or should we try an alternative? The alternative was called MBST. I was very sceptical. I couldn’t imagine any way in which this could be of help. But what shall I say: I felt a change after the 9 sessions of treatment. I could use my knee more and more and even start with light weight training. About 8 weeks later, I was almost free of complaints. I am very happy that I chose this way. I can absolutely recommend it. The perfect alternative to surgery.
