Before the start of a treatment, every patient also is questioned about possible contraindications in order to determine possible criteria for exclusion.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2ab8d57 elementor-widget elementor-widget-spacer\" data-id=\"2ab8d57\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"spacer.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-spacer-inner\"><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21cb30f e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"21cb30f\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ab5645e pad_section e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-child\" data-id=\"ab5645e\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a2e740e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a2e740e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Defined contraindications in accordance with manufacturer\u2019s guidelines<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><p>In the case of implanted infusion, pain or insuline pumps or cochlea implants or any other implanted neurostimulators etc. that come into the active treatment field or into the immediate proximity of the treatment zone. It cannot generally be ruled out that the high-frequency pulses used might induce a short-term weak current flow in these electrical conductors in individual cases and depending on the material, its geometry, biological characteristics of the patient, frequency and position of the implant in relation to the treatment field. External pumps have to be taken off during the therapy unit.<\/p><\/li><li><p>In order to assess if an MBST\u00ae therapy is possible despite a medical implant, pacemaker or defibrillator system (e.g. ICD system), information about the materials used (especially model name and number, details about MRI suitability for use) are essential. In this case, the manufacturer of said medical implants must have confirmed that contact with a magnetic field does not have a negative impact on their functioning. Otherwise, it cannot be ruled out that the medical implants may be damaged during the treatment or that interactions with the electro\u00admagnetic fields of the therapy system may cause damage to the patient.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Due to the multitude of available aggregates and probes as well as anatomical and (patho-)physiological characteristics of each individual patient on the one hand and the range of different magnetic fields and radio waves on the other hand, a decision for or against an MBST\u00ae magnetic resonance therapy may only be done based on a respective individual assessment.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Pregnancy<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p>Modern pace makers and also their electrodes (probes) are manufactured in such a way nowadays that they are not negatively impacted, damaged or overheated by the magnetic fields of an MRI device. Several types of pace makers are available that are classified as MR compatible or MR conditional. In these cases, there is no contraindication to an MBST\u00ae magnetic resonance therapy due to the same technological basis. In the case of prosthetic heart valves, an MBST\u00ae therapy is usually possible, depending on the type and functionality of the prosthesis.<\/p><p><strong>Relative contraindications<\/strong><\/p><p>In the case of patients with one of the following pre-existing conditions, the treating specialist should be consulted before the start of treatment in order to determine any potential relative contraindications to an MBST\u00ae therapy for the respective indication in an individual interdisciplinary assessment with respect to safety measures:<\/p><ul><li><p>cardiac diseases, cardiac arrythmias<\/p><\/li><li><p>tumours in the treatment zone (MRI is very important in diagnosis and follow-up of many types of cancer. It is used in the search for tumours and in cancer check-ups as well as for follow-ups and after-care. No long-term side effects of the strong magnetic fields and the high-frequency radio waves of the MRI have yet become known for cancer patients.)<\/p><\/li><li><p>leukaemia<\/p><\/li><li><p>HIV infection<\/p><\/li><li><p>bacterial infections<\/p><\/li><li><p>active rheumatic episode<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p>Treatment may still be possible after a strict benefit-risk assessment by the treating physician, for example if the area of the relevant pre-existing condition is not within the intended treatment zone (the recommended distance is 40 cm around the active treatment field) or if the expected benefit of the therapy outweighs potential risks.<\/p><p>Treatment with an MBST\u00ae magnetic resonance therapy does not affect the fitness to drive and to operate machinery.
