I had tried to put it off for as long as possible, hoping it would improve by itself. But at some point, the pain had become pretty severe and I couldn\u2019t bend my knee anymore. The doctor diagnosed osteoarthritis of the knee. Because I had tried to rest the leg so much, the thigh muscles had also started to degenerate.<\/p><p>The doctor gave me injections into the knee which helped for some time. But after a few months, the pain came back stronger than before and the next injections didn\u2019t work as good. I had an MRI scan which showed that there was not only advanced arthrosis but also a bone edema in my knee which caused the pain and was almost turning into bone necrosis.<\/p><p>This can get serious and there are only few treatments. Neither in sports nor in daily life.<\/p><p>Thanks to MBST, a deterioration of the knee joints last year could again be halted and to such an extent that I can now put some weight on my knees again and can even walk, though somewhat impaired. And this has developed further over the years. Right up to having my own gym, which I have used regularly. I also used to do a lot of running.<\/p><p>My problems started a few years ago when I suddenly got a pain in my back. And this pain spread down my leg and into my foot, with the result that I couldn&#8217;t do any sport for quite some time. I couldn&#8217;t sleep normally either. Instead, I slept in an armchair where I could adjust the backrest at night for over a quarter of a year because nothing helped me.<\/p><p>The attempts with injections and similar things were all ineffective. Even shock wave therapy, which was extremely painful, didn&#8217;t help. An MRI has already shown depressing results for the lumbar spine. Vertebrae, intervertebral discs and the nerve canal were narrowed to about half their original size, from 8 mm to 4 mm, which inevitably led to or contributed to inflammation.<\/p><p>And then the question came up: what do we do now? Actually, this is a case where only surgery stands a chance. However, as I knew from people in my age or in some cases even younger, that this often turns into a never-ending story with more and more surgical stiffening until nothing else is possible anymore.<\/p><p>Together with my doctor, it was decided that we would try MBST. It was a real struggle at first because I couldn&#8217;t lie down at all. However, this gradually improved over the course of the treatment. Within a few days, there was noticeable relief and improvement and the pain subsided. I was slowly able to resume my active sports activities.<\/p><p>Today I&#8217;m back to full training, I walk every day, I walk around 60 kilometers a week, up to 90,000 steps, I do planks, strength training and press-ups every day.<\/p><p>I&#8217;m glad that I did this because it has given me a new perspective on life. After the walk, when I had cleaned my feet and wanted to tie my shoe laces, I suddenly felt a strong pain in my back, which radiated into my left leg. My left leg down to my foot was somewhat numb and felt kind of furry. A nasty feeling.<\/p><p>The doctor suspected a slipped disc and prescribed painkillers and muscle relaxants for the next few days. Needless to say, this vacation was pretty much done. All I could do was walk and stand, with a bit of cycling and massages.<\/p><p>Back home, I went straight to my orthopaedist. Diagnosis: Herniated disc L4\/L5, spondylarthrosis and spinal canal stenosis caused by a slipped vertebra. The furry feeling in my foot was caused by the narrowed spinal canal.<\/p><p>As I have the opportunity at my place of work, I started MBST therapy for intervertebral discs as soon as I returned, 10 days after it started in mid-July. I had already heard from others how well this treatment had helped them but experiencing it for myself was something else entirely. I was surprised at how fast I got better. Shortly after starting, the pain already was less. After the 5th session, it improved so significantly that I could stop taking any pain medication. Because of the additional diagnoses, I followed up with a second treatment for bone tissue.<\/p><p>With additional physiotherapy, stretching exercises, walking and a sitting ball, I didn&#8217;t have to take a single sick day. I was able to return to work immediately after my vacation without having to suffer.<\/p><p>In September, I dared to go on a longer hike again for the first time. 12 km with about 600 meters elevation were no problem. I am fit and able again, CrossFit and barbell training are possible without any impairment. Only my mind still reminds me to take things slowly and not start with heavy weights, but perhaps that&#8217;s all for the best.<\/p><p>From my first experience as patient, I can say: absolutely recommendable. I had an MRI on the next day and it immediately was apparent that surgery would be necessary. The tear was about 4 or 5 cm.<\/p><p>I had the operation in the next week, at the end of July. The surgeon told me, I would have to use crutches and a splint for about three months so it wouldn\u2019t overstretch. That was devastating, of course. I am self-employed and always much in demand physically. Three months off work was quite a challenge to manage.<\/p><p>Following that, I immediately visited Peter [Stiller] at his medical practice. He said: \u201cWhen are you going on holiday? Three weeks? Yes, we\u2019ll make it.\u201d And started directly with shock wave, MBST and cryo therapy.<\/p><p>And yes, we really went on holiday three weeks later. I hope, the surgeon will never see the photos because I didn\u2019t bring crutches or the splint. It improved really quickly, much much quicker than expected and it was great.
